Danielle Bartlette Artist Biography

I was born and raised in Winnipeg where I attended Fine Arts (Honours) at the University of Manitoba. In 2000, I moved to Calgary where I focused on oil painting as medium of choice although all art mediums appeal to me.  I've enjoyed using photography, sculpture, drawing, video, printmaking, ceramics, even performance and installation pieces as well to create art work. I am currently very active in the arts community and enjoys painting in my private studio in Inglewood.

In brief, to talk of my work would describe paintings which are lush in colour, mood and energy. I interpret my views of the world around me whether it be architecturally based (lived in Scotland from 2005 - 2007) to sentimentally inspired (lose and gain of loved ones). Whatever path I take, I  paint its significance. A new series I am working on consists of 12 canvasses telling 12 different stories randomly chosenfrom my diaries of the last 20 years.  All events are to be described without the obvious narrative of recognizable images.
