Oil Painting Classes with Bobbi Dunlop

Decades of pursuing the language of brushstrokes has channelled Bobbi Dunlop’s unique inner vision, experience and life wisdom into an avenue for expressing her truest reactions on canvas. Dunlop considers herself a ‘professional observer of life’; applying paint to canvas as the vehicle through which she most naturally communicates her observations and insights..

Bobbi Dunlop has been a much in demand painting instructor (in oils and watercolour) since 1994. Her work has been shown in galleries both locally and internationally. Bobbi’s classes and workshops offer a challenge to artists at all levels. Teaching students the joy of painting from life, Bobbi shares her painting philosophy, the business side of art and life of the professional artist. Bobbi’s classes are very much an extension of her own philosophy and her “Visual Journey” workshops. For the student, emphasis will be on the importance of designing a painting with a ‘concept’ in mind; painting in a direct manner (jumping right into a painting with both feet!). Students will learn the principals of ‘abstract realism’ and the logical method of ‘chiaroscuro’ (light and shadow). Bobbi will also guide the student in the use of photos; using them as one would paint from life. In particular, students will learn how to ‘see’ and best of all, experience the ‘joy’ of putting paint on the canvas.
